How to use MetaStrip

MetaStrip is for making share-ready copies of photos without carrying common metadata from the source file.

1. Add photos

Select JPEG, PNG or WebP images. MetaStrip checks common metadata blocks and highlights GPS, capture time, camera model, lens and software fields when it can read them.

2. Choose output settings

Keeping the original file type is the safest default. JPEG and WebP quality applies only when those formats are used. A max long edge can also reduce file size for casual sharing.

3. Strip metadata

The browser decodes the visible pixels and writes them to a fresh image. This intentionally does not copy EXIF, XMP, IPTC or text metadata from the original.

4. Review the picture itself

Removing file metadata does not hide visible clues. Faces, signs, QR codes, reflections, landmarks and text may still reveal identity or location.
